Technology Forum: Geeks Up Late

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a technology forum this evening "LNL @ Customs House: Geeks Up Late" hosted by Peter Blasina and Marc Fennell.

They covered a wide range of technology topics and issues around those topics.

An early tip was that the next big things are going to be wearable technology and augmented technology.
Wearable technology being anything with technology that someone can wear and Augmented technology being technology that views what is around you and delivers information based on or associated with what it sees, the facial finder on your camera for example.
They went onto discuss the upcoming Google Glasses and Apple iWatch.

Throughout the forum they quoted a number of statistics and technology comparisons like the upcoming Samasung Galaxy S4 is more powerful than the average home PC 3 years ago and has more features, GPS, front/back camera etc.

The NBN (National Broadband Network) was a large topic where they gave a thorough argument on why it was needed and how 3G/4G networks were not an alternative and these networks actually needed the NBN to support them, wiring between the cell towers etc.

They covered a number of other areas and touched on Organic Cells for data storage and 3D printing.

Check out my twitter feed for more highlights or look up the presentation online, it will be posted on the ABC website shortly.
